現代最高のシンガーソングライター、ファーザー・ジョン・ミスティことジョシュ・ティルマンの新作が完成。2018年の『Gods Favorite Customer』以来、4年振りとなる自身5枚目のアルバム『CHLOE AND THE NEXT 20TH CENTURY』リリース。

アルバムは2020年8月から12月にかけて作曲/レコーディングされ、Drew Erickson(Lana Del Rey、Weyes Blood他)によるアレンジメントがフィーチャーされている。ジョシュ・ティルマンは長年のコラボレーター、Jonathan Wilson(Conor Oberst、Bonnie "Prince" Billy他)と共に『Chloe and the Next 20th Century』を制作。Dave Cerminaraをエンジニア/ミキサーとして起用し、ベーシック・トラックはWilsonのスタジオ、Five Starでレコーディング。ストリングス、ブラス、ウッドウィンズ(木管楽器)は、Dan HigginsやWayne Bergeron等が参加したセッションで、United Recordingsでレコーディングをおこなった。

アルバムには「Funny Girl」「Q4」「Goodbye Mr. Blue」「Kiss Me (I Loved You)」他、全11曲が収録される。
